Vaupel invites Livingston County residents to informational elder abuse town hall with Attorney General Nessel
RELEASE|October 10, 2019

State Rep. Hank Vaupel, of Fowlerville, will host an elder abuse town hall event on Monday, Oct. 21 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Livingston County EMS building located at 1911 Tooley Road in Howell.

Rep. Vaupel, along with special guest AG Nessel, will deliver an informational overview of the growing problem of elder abuse in Michigan and what’s being done at the state level to protect seniors. Along with AG Nessel, Beth Newman (Resource Advocate for Livingston County Catholic Charities), Detective Sergeant Gary Childers from the Livingston County Sheriff’s office, Robert Mannor with the Elder Law and Disability Section of the State Bar, and other local advocates for elders will participate on a panel to discuss elder abuse matters.  Also attending the event will be  State Rep. Doug Wozniak, an elder law attorney from Shelby Township.

“The rise of elder abuse in Michigan is of extreme concern for me,” said Rep. Vaupel, chair of the House Health Policy Committee. “I want victims and witnesses to know where they can turn to for help, as well as provide an overview of recent legislative proposals to offer additional legal protections to seniors.”

No registration is necessary to attend. Residents may contact Rep. Vaupel’s Lansing office with any questions about the town hall at (517) 373-8835 or [email protected].
