State Rep. Peter Lucido of Shelby Township was joined by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Carl Marlinga, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Mark Switalski, and 42nd District Court Judge Denis LeDuc to speak in support of House Joint Resolution G on Tuesday.

A letter was also submitted from 41-B District Court Judge Linda Davis in support of the resolution.

House Resolution G proposes an amendment to the Michigan Constitution to remove the age limit in order to serve as a judge, currently set at 70.

“Over the course of over 30 years in the courtroom, I have seen many fine, skilled judges who are forced off the bench while still in the prime of their lives due to an arbitrary age limit,” Lucido said. “The voters can exercise their discretion through the election process, and the state has options if a judge has any medical issues which would preclude continued service. I am proud to join these judges in supporting this constitutional amendment.”
