LANSING — Michigan House Speaker Jase Bolger today announced the appointments of state Reps. Frank Foster, R-Petoskey, and Adam Zemke, D-Ann Arbor, to the governor’s Talent Investment Board for terms ending Dec. 31, 2014.
The 47-member board advises and assists the governor regarding compliance with the federal Workforce Investment Act and overall talent development.
“We must do all we can to encourage job creation in Michigan, but we also need to develop and connect the state’s talent pool to fill those jobs,” said Bolger, R-Marshall. “Rep. Foster realizes the importance of attracting job providers to Michigan, and I’m sure he will work well with the board to help ensure Michigan residents are able to get the education and training they need for today’s new economy.”
The board provides a vital role in bringing citizen involvement, engagement and oversight to the state’s talent enhancement effort. This business-led, business-majority board serves as a catalyst for talent enhancement and economic development entities. The board recommends policies to the governor and state departments that guide workforce investment and training at both the state and local levels.
