State Reps. Ken Goike and Andrea LaFontaine will host a community blood drive in collaboration with the Richmond EMS on Monday, March 11.
The event will be open from 3 to 8:45 p.m., and donations will be taken on a walk-in basis, not by appointment. The Richmond EMS is located at 34505 32 Mile Road in Richmond.
The representatives say they are trying to promote the importance of blood donation in recognition of March as American Red Cross Month in the state of Michigan.
“This community event is a great opportunity to demonstrate the importance of donating blood,” said LaFontaine, R-Columbus Township. “The act of donating blood, though simple, could possibly save someone’s life and I am hopeful we will have outstanding participation.”
Goike, R-Ray, said: “Whether you are donating blood in honor of a friend or loved one, or just stopping by to lend support, we encourage everyone in the Bay Area community to attend.”
The blood drive is walk-in only. No appointments will be planned in advance. Questions can be directed to Jeff White of Richmond EMS at 586-727-2184.
