State Rep. Peter MacGregor was first elected to the Michigan House in November 2010. He represents the 73rd District, which includes the city of East Grant Rapids and the townships of Cannon, Courtland, Nelson, Oakfield, Plainfield, Spencer and Grand Rapids Charter Township.
MacGregor graduated from the Michigan State University School of Business in 1988.
MacGregor is a former small-business owner and also served as Cannon Township supervisor, as a trustee and as a Cannon Township planning commissioner.
Married to his college sweetheart for 19 years, MacGregor met Christine while they were students at Michigan State University. They have three sons. Peter and his family are avid sportsmen, enjoying golf, running, fishing, hiking, hunting and watching their boys’ many sporting activities. The family attends Rockford United Methodist Church. He also is an active member of the Rockford Lions, serving as the club’s president from 2007 to 2008. In 2007, MacGregor helped found the Volley for Mitchell Charity 4-on-4 volleyball tournament to raise funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research and continues to serve as one of its three co-directors.
MacGregor is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, serving as the chair of the appropriations subcommittee on Human Services, vice chair of the appropriations subcommittee on Military and Veterans Affairs, and as a member of the appropriations subcommittees on community health and higher education.
