State Rep. Pat Somerville was first elected in November 2010 to the Michigan House to represent the residents of Brownstown Township, Gibraltar, Grosse Ile Township, Huron Township, Trenton and Woodhaven. He was re-elected to his third term in November 2014.
Somerville served as chairman of the Wayne County Young Republicans, and as precinct delegate for the 15th Congressional District. He is also a member of the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Somerville serves as chair of the Committee on Financial Liability Reform. He is also a member of the Committees on Education, Tax Policy, and Commerce and Trade.
Somerville graduated from Woodhaven High School and then continued with his education at the University of Michigan, where he earned a bachelor’s of science degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Somerville worked as a manager for Walgreens. He is also self-employed in sales and marketing.
Somerville is a lifelong downriver resident, and lives in New Boston. He enjoys reading, golfing and was an Evans Scholarship recipient from the Grosse Ile Country Club. Somerville is a contributor to Michigan Right to Life, Grosse Ile Education Foundation, Downriver Goodfellows and Relay for Life. He is a member of the Berean Baptist Church, Woodhaven Kiwanis and the NRA.
