Rep. Wozniak opens Lansing office, encourages feedback

State Rep. Douglas Wozniak’s legislative office is now open and ready to serve the residents of Macomb County.

“I am eager to work toward real solutions for a more efficient and accountable state government for people of the 36^th District,” Rep. Wozniak said. “Local residents are encouraged to contact me at any time with any thoughts and concerns they may have.”

Griff Drew will serve as Rep. Wozniak’s legislative director and Tas Blekys will serve as his legislative aide. Shelby Township Trustee John Vermeulen, Washington Township Trustee Sam Previti and Lisa Damon will also work as Rep. Wozniak’s in-district liaisons.

“It’s a good day when government can join hands with a community to invest in a project that matters,” said Wozniak, R-Shelby Township. “Shelby Township continues to grow, so our community center needs to grow right along with it. These enhancements have been carefully planned, and funding for them in the works, for several years. I couldn’t be happier that all the township’s hard work looks to be coming to fruition.”

“I don’t think that the government agency receiving a FOIA request should be the final arbiter of whether or not they are going to honor the request short of going to court,” Wozniak said. “There needs to be an independent public body that can hold other units of government accountable to ensure citizens are not having their request arbitrarily declined.”

“I’m proud to join my fellow Republicans in leading the charge to rebuild Michigan’s economy,” said Wozniak, R-Shelby Township. “Regardless of what national talking heads say, inflation is hitting families and small businesses hard. We must consider legitimate reforms that will reduce taxation on residents and businesses and strengthen checks and balances in economic incentive programs.”

“I’m honored to have been asked to collaborate with commission colleagues to update this model law,” said Wozniak, R-Shelby Township. “The UTMA was first drafted by the ULC over 40 years ago and is in need of review and revision to ensure it meets current circumstances and needs.”
