State Rep. Mary Whiteford, of Casco Township, has received the Legislator of the Year Award from the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA).

“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by an organization so dedicated to improving patient care, safety, health, and the practice of pharmacy,” Rep. Whiteford said. “I have been blessed with the opportunity to use my background and skill set to improve health policy in the state of Michigan, but many of our achievements would not have been possible without great partners like MPA.”

According to their website, MPA was established Nov. 14, 1883, as a state professional society serving Michigan’s pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and student pharmacists in all settings of practices. For more than 130 years, MPA has strived to provide its members with the tools, resources and support needed to advance the profession of pharmacy and provide quality patient care.
