State Rep. Mary Whiteford, of Casco Township, today said she is optimistic about Michigan’s economy continuing in a positive direction following this week’s Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference, which is the first review of the upcoming economic forecast.
Whiteford, who serves on the House Appropriations Committee, said the report is presented to the House and Senate Appropriations committees twice a year, outlining the financial outlook and calculating the state’s economic health for the coming budgeting process.
“We have been fiscally conservative in our budgeting process, reducing debt, cutting needless state spending and setting priorities that are important to Michigan families.” Whiteford said. “The outlook for the coming budget year is encouraging as we continue to grow Michigan’s economy.”
Whiteford said she plans to continue to support legislation that makes the best use of taxpayer dollars entrusted to the Legislature.
“I am committed to making sure our state budget is fiscally responsible and ensuring every dollar we spend is used in the most effective and efficient manner,” Whiteford said. “I am eager to get to work on the budget for the next fiscal year and advocating for the hard-working tax payers of Allegan County.”
