State Rep. Hank Vaupel testified before the House Insurance Committee today, supporting his legislation that clarifies how and when claims are filed under the Michigan Assigned Claims Plan (MACP).
“Anyone seeking personal injury protection benefits can face a confusing and uneven process, whether no insurance applies to the injury or multiple insurers,” said Vaupel, of Fowlerville. “This has to be better clarified to allow claims to be reviewed and handled as swiftly as possible. This brings a little common sense to auto insurance because we should expect a claim application be filled out and show a proof of an accident.”
House Bill 4624 is part of a four-bill package introduced this week, seeking a more clear and consistent process to reviews by the Michigan Automobile Insurance Placement Facility (MAIPF) and under MACP.
The committee did not vote on the legislative package today and may have a vote in the future.
