State Rep. Hank Vaupel of Handy Township hosted Zachary Kupec and his family at the Capitol on Wednesday to be a junior representative and experience the life of a Michigan state legislator.
Students entered the contest by filling out a bookmark they received from their local library or school with as many books as they could read over the summer.
During his day in Lansing, Zachary was seated on the floor of the Michigan House of Representatives and observed how legislation is debated and considered.
“I enjoyed hosting Zachary as a junior representative and giving him the rare opportunity to experience the legislative process first-hand,” Rep. Vaupel said. “I am impressed by his passion for reading and encouraged by his interest in our state government.”
