Rep. Curt VanderWall is encouraging everyone to take advantage of the state’s winter Free Fishing Weekend on Feb. 17 and 18.
This weekend, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources will waive the regular recreation passport fees and allow residents and out-of-state visitors to fish without a license. This weekend gives anglers the ability to introduce their sport to friends and family who have never experienced winter fishing, showing them how much fun a Pure Michigan winter can be.
“Fishing is a great way to spend time with family and friends in the great outdoors,” VanderWall said. “Michigan has some of the best fishing anywhere and I urge everyone to take advantage of Free Fishing Weekend.”
Fishing license fees will be waived for the two days, although all fishing regulations will still apply. For more information visit www.michigan.gov/freefishing, or contact Rep. VanderWall’s office at (517) 373-0825 or CurtVanderWall@house.mi.gov.
