Rep. Rendon’s plans giving senior citizens and others the high quality of care they deserve signed into law
RELEASE|January 4, 2019

Two plans introduced by state Rep. Daire Rendon to help give senior citizens and others the high quality of care they deserve within their communities has been signed into law.

Rep. Rendon’s first plan allows adult care homes to develop a licensure costs plan that will save taxpayer dollars while continuing to ensure quality services.

“Senior citizens have contributed so much to our society from raising families, working hard and teaching us values. These new laws prioritize senior citizens and ensure they are given the highest quality of care in return,” said Rendon, of Lake City.

Adult foster care homes will join the majority of licensed professions operating under the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) to cover the cost of employee background checks, while continuing to ensure safety for their residents.

Rep. Rendon’s second plan allows one Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) to operate per zip code to avoid duplication.

The program offers multiple services as well as coordination of Medicare and Medicaid financing for elderly individuals who meet the requirements.

House Bills 5506 and 6551 are now Public Act 558 and 447 of 2018.
