Rep. Rendon: House ‘leading the way’ in Michigan’s comeback
RELEASE|February 19, 2019

Legislator joins colleagues in unveiling 2019-2020 action plan

State Rep. Daire Rendon, of Lake City, today joined her colleagues for a press conference outlining key principles and priorities that will guide House Republican legislation over the next two years.

Rendon, who served on the House Policy Action Plan Committee, said she’s looking forward to the caucus’ 2019-2020 Action Plan, which focuses on “leading the way” in Michigan’s comeback. She expressed excitement toward the goals of improving the lives of the mentally ill, reducing car insurance rates for Michigan drivers and expanding broadband access to rural areas across the state.

“This is the best path forward for Michigan, and I am pleased to see many priorities outlined within the action plan are aimed toward giving the residents of Crawford, Kalkaska, Missaukee, Ogemaw and Roscommon counties a meaningful pathway to grow and prosper,” Rendon said. “Whether it’s standing up for our most vulnerable populations, making car insurance more affordable or increasing internet reliability to attract businesses, I remain committed to making Northern Michigan a better place to live, work and raise a family.”

The action plan also focuses on:

  • Building Michigan’s future through improved infrastructure, including roads and public water systems;
  • Protecting constitutional rights and religious freedoms;
  • Meaningful criminal justice reform, such as protecting private property rights through changes to civil asset forfeiture, while upholding the rule of law; and
  • Keeping more hard-earned money back into the pockets of Michigan taxpayers.

Since 2011, House Republicans have publicly outlined their priorities to improve government transparency and accountability. The entire action plan is available to the public at gophouse.org/leading-the-way.
