Rep. Michelle Hoitenga, R-Manton; audio on House passage of pepper spray legisltion

Rep. Hoitenga talks about House passage Thursday of her HB 5220, which raises the maximum allowable concentration of oleoresin capsicum, the active ingredient in pepper spray, from 10 to 18 percent. This increases the effectiveness of the solution and brings Michigan in line with the current federal limit, which the majority of other states have already done.  The plan also allows the use of an ultra-violet dye invisible to the naked eye that law enforcement officers can use to identify offenders with a UV light.
