Today in Lansing Rep. Pete Lucido braved the elements of a Pure Michigan winter day to help raise money for the Special Olympics at the Legislative Polar Plunge.
More than a dozen lawmakers this year participated in the annual event, with temperatures in Lansing reading approximately 28 degrees Fahrenheit. The event raises money for the nearly 21,000 athletes who take part in Special Olympics Michigan. This year, the plunge raised $30,000 for the year-round program, which offers sport and activity for those with intellectual disabilities.
“This is such a fun event and for such a great cause,” said Rep. Lucido, R-Shelby Township. “I was proud to sport the Shelby Lions Football uniform as I jumped into some very, very cold water to bring attention and raise funds for this very important cause. I can’t wait to take the plunge again next year! Go Shelby Lions!”
