State Rep. Peter Lucido made the following statement today, following the introduction of an 11-bill legislation package which improves governmental transparency by opening the governor and lieutenant governor to provisions in the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) as well as creating a disclosure system for the House and Senate called the Legislative Open Records Act (LORA):
“Great government should also always be transparent, it’s that simple. We are here in service to the people of Michigan. They deserve to know everything that goes on in the Capitol, how their tax dollars are being spent and what goes into the legislation that we vote on.
“There is absolutely no reason anyone should oppose government transparency. We owe it to the people we work for to be fully open and accountable.”
