Rep. Lilly supports bipartisan plan to deliver auto insurance savings
RELEASE|May 24, 2019

House approves long-overdue no-fault compromise

State Rep. Jim Lilly today joined colleagues in approving a bipartisan plan to deliver significant rate relief for drivers across the state.

The House overwhelmingly approved legislation guaranteeing lower rates by giving drivers more choice on personal injury protection coverage, stopping price gouging on medical services for car accident victims, and combating fraudulent claims to help lower costs.

The bipartisan solution, a result of cooperation between Republican legislative leaders and Governor Whitmer, is designed to end Michigan’s long tenure as the state with the most expensive car insurance rates in the nation.

“Since the day I took office, my constituents have made it crystal clear: we must do something to significantly lower auto insurance rates. Today, we did just that,” said Lilly, of Park Township. “This plan is the result of months of thoughtful work and cooperation across party lines, and I was proud to support it.”

Michigan is currently the only state mandating unlimited lifetime health care dfthrafasdfaough auto insurance. The bipartisan reform plan allows those currently using the coverage to keep it, and those who want it in the future to continue buying it – while providing more affordable options.

Senate Bill 1 will now move to Governor Whitmer’s desk, where her signature is expected.
