LANSING – State Rep. Jim Lilly, of Park Township, was joined today by Grand Haven Director of Public Safety Jeff Hawke and Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Koster as his guests at the Michigan House of Representatives’ annual Sept. 11 Memorial Service at the Capitol. The ceremony remembers those dedicated individuals who served as first responders or lost their lives on 9-11 by recognizing servicemen and women in our local communities.
“September 11th is a time to reflect on those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our communities,“ said Lilly “I’m honored to host Director Hawke and Sgt. Koster and commemorate their service to Ottawa County. The courage and sacrifice they embody on a daily basis is appreciated. “
Director Jeff Hawke has served in law enforcement for over 30 years across the state. Acting in a number of capacities in Cadillac including Director of Public Safety, School Liaison Officer and Dog Handler. Director Hawke assumed his current role for Grand Haven in 2012.
Sgt. Chris Koster has served the Ottawa County Sherriff’s Office for over 23 years. His service has ranged from Community Policing Sergeant, Road Patrol Sergeant and Undercover Deputy. Sgt. Koster currently acts as the Department’s Training Sergeant and overseas the Reserve Unit for Ottawa County.
