Legislator will chair temporary Committee on Committees
State Rep. Jim Lilly will play a key role in recommending House committee assignments for the 2019-20 Michigan House legislative session after being named chair of the Committee on Committees by Speaker-elect Rep. Lee Chatfield.
Lilly, who also was selected last week to serve as associate speaker pro tempore for the upcoming legislative session, said he is eager to help shape House priorities and establish committee assignments based on each individual lawmaker’s professional background, personal interest and knowledge.
“I look forward to leading this committee and helping my colleagues maximize their time in the Legislature,” said Lilly, of Park Township. “It will be an honor to help everyone find the best opportunities to contribute so we can accomplish our goals and improve the lives of all Michigan families, seniors and workers.”
The Committee on Committees will assemble the rosters and schedules for the House policy and appropriations committees and subcommittees for the 2019-20 term. Members of the temporary Committee on Committees will work with both caucuses to determine the best fit for each representatives’ interests and expertise.
