Rep. LaFave reminds constituents of upcoming tax day
RELEASE|February 27, 2019

With just over a month until the annual “Tax Day,” Rep. Beau LaFave of Iron Mountain reminds Yoopers of available resources. LaFave distributed copies of the Michigan Taxpayer’s Guide to Spies Public Library in Menominee, Escanaba Public Library, and Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain. In addition to these guides, the IRS has a number of free options to assist with preparing tax filing. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) sites are IRS-sponsored sites that provide taxpayers with free, trained, and certified volunteer preparers. A list of different services offered throughout the state is available at the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan taxpayer site, MichiganFreeTaxHelp.org or by dialing 2-1-1. Tips and other helpful information can also be found at MichiganFreeTaxHelp.org/free-tax-prep-locations
