Funding targets playground equipment replacement

State Rep. Beau LaFave today announced a grant to fund development of a new playground at Lake Antoine Park in Dickinson County has been recommended by the Natural Resources Trust Fund.

LaFave, of Iron Mountain, said the grant will pay for new playground equipment that meets Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility requirements. Funding for the project is comprised of revenue from the lease of state land and is designated on an annual basis in partnership with local governments.

“The equipment in the existing play area is dated and does not allow access for all children,” LaFave said. “The improvements recommended will enable children of all abilities to more easily enjoy the playground. This grant is a great example of state and local governments working together to improve the quality of life for families in our communities.”

The development will cost $30,000. The Legislature will consider the recommendations later this year.
