State Rep. Tim Kelly will serve as vice chair of the House Oversight Committee, which helps ensure that taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently and effectively.
Speaker Jase Bolger appointed Kelly to the committee.
“I’m honored to help serve in the role as a watchdog for people’s hard-earned tax dollars and make sure government runs as transparently as possible,” said Kelly, R-Saginaw Township. “Government must always be accountable to the people it serves, and I’m extremely pleased the speaker has given me this opportunity.”
Kelly also will serve on the Commerce; Financial Services; Regulatory Reform; and Tax Policy committees.
“Although great strides have been made to reform tax policy in Michigan, more must be done to encourage a healthy and vibrant economy,” Kelly said. “Our state’s tax policy should be seen as a welcome sign to potential job creators, not a reason to turn back and look elsewhere.”
