State Rep. Tim Kelly is encouraging parents and caregivers to read to their children in honor of March is Reading Month.

“I look forward to reading to area students, and hope I can encourage them to develop a lifetime interest in books,” said Kelly, R-Saginaw Township.  “Reading is so important for cognitive development.  It can open up a world of possibilities to children and help them succeed in school.”

Kelly plans to read to students on Mondays and Fridays during the month of March.   For more information or to set up a reading time, call his office toll free at 855-94KELLY (855-945-3559), or send an email to timkelly@house.mi.gov.

“I believe that taking time out of our busy schedules to volunteer and read with the children in their schools is well worth the time,” Kelly said.  “I am looking forward to my visit to the district’s schools and taking questions about state government and the legislative process during my visit as well.”
