Rep. Kahle: House restores investments to support vital state programs for Michigan families
RELEASE|March 11, 2020

State Rep. Bronna Kahle voted in favor of an emergency budget plan to restore funding for several crucial state programs helping Michigan’s most vulnerable residents.

Kahle joined the Legislature in restoring funding for human trafficking survivors, child advocacy centers, independent living for individuals with disabilities, and adoption services. The plan also reinstates resources for the Runaway and Homeless Youth Services Program, which provides emergency shelter services to homeless and runaway youth.

“These important programs never should have been vetoed by the Governor,” Kahle said. “I have been working to restore these vital initiatives for our families, friends and neighbors.”

The budget plan also restores funding for Going Pro, which provides training that enhances talent, productivity, and employment retention of Michigan’s workforce through competitive grants to employers and Michigan Reconnect, which provides grants for individuals 25 and older to earn a skill certificate or degree at a local community college.

“Today was a huge step forward for families in Lenawee and all across Michigan,” Kahle said. “And I look forward to getting these needed services to people, which makes the entire state stronger.”
