State Rep. Bronna Kahle today said the city of Adrian has been awarded a grant to assist a downtown rental rehabilitation project.
The $242,790 federal community development block grant was approved this week by the Michigan Strategic Fund. The funding will help with a project renovating two vacant historic buildings into four new residential apartments. Three of the units will be reserved for low-to-moderate income households.
“There is a great need for affordable housing in Lenawee County. This is exactly the kind of project that will help families, while also helping downtown Adrian grow and thrive,” Kahle said. “A vibrant downtown contributes to the economic health of our entire community.”
The project is expected to generate private investment of about $219,000.
