Today, Speaker of the House Tom Leonard named State Representative Steve Johnson as chair of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, as well as a member of four other committees during the 2017-2018 legislative session.

Rep. Johnson was one of seven freshmen House members appointed by Speaker Leonard to chair a committee. The first-term lawmaker also will serve on the House Energy, Military and Veterans, Oversight and Tax Policy committees.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve on key committees that will greatly impact the lives of people in West Michigan and across our entire state,” said Johnson, R-Wayland. “My focus will be on finding solutions that reduce the size and scope of government, honor those who have served our country, promote competition and ensure taxpayer dollars are being used in a transparent and accountable manner.”
