State Rep. Martin Howrylak was joined by special guests Clawson Police Chief Harry Anderson and Lieutenant Scott Salter from Troy Police Department for the annual Michigan House of Representatives 9/11 Memorial Service today.
The ceremony marked the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States and honored military members and first responders.
The House of Representatives invited guests to join them in honoring the victims and heroes of 9/11, and the men and woman serving in uniform today.
The names of 12 first responders and three military members from Michigan who died in the line of duty during the past year were also read during the ceremony.
“Our men and women in the armed forces and those who serve on the front lines as first responders represent the ideals that define us as Americans,” said Rep. Howrylak, R-Troy. “I was honored to have Chief Anderson and Lt. Salter here to be recognized by all of Michigan for their commitment to protecting our community.”
