State Rep. Martin Howrylak, of Troy, is partnering with the Michigan attorney general’s office to host a consumer education event open to the public this month.
The event starts at 11 a.m. Sept. 21 at the Hunter Community Center, located at 509 Fisher Ct. in Clawson. The presentation will highlight phone, mail and email scams, as well as learning the telltale signs of scammers in an informational effort to help people avoid being victimized by such crimes.
“As technology continues to evolve, more and more Michiganders are prone to scams carried out by tech thieves,” Howrylak said. “My hope is this event will act as a learning opportunity for residents of all ages so they can recognize potential threats and avoid them.”
There is no charge to attend the event and a light lunch will be provided. Individuals looking for more information may contact Rep. Howrylak’s office toll-free at (877) 248-0001 or by emailing MartinHowrylak@house.mi.gov.
