RELEASE|March 12, 2020

State Rep. Gary Howell of North Branch recently presented a tribute to the Michigan Downtown Association (MDA) recognizing the organization’s 40th anniversary. In attendance to receive the tribute were Dana Walker, director of the MDA and former director of the Imlay City Downtown Development Authority DDA; James Alt, executive director of the Lapeer DDA and a member of the MDA Board of Directors; and Christina Sheppard-Decius, chairwoman of the MDA.

“The Development Authorities are a key part of what makes Lapeer County such a great place to live,” Howell said. “Their commitment to developing local economic growth and vitality has made a tremendous impact on the prosperity of our state. I look forward to continuing to work with Dana, Jim, and Christina to ensure the long-term growth of our communities.”

Walker, a resident of North Branch, was named director of the MDA in March 2019 after over four years as director of the Imlay City DDA. Prior to his election to the State Legislature, Howell was involved in the formation of Downtown Development Authorities for all the cities and villages in Lapeer County.
