Rep. Pamela Hornberger today successfully secured state money to help with improvements at a Chesterfield Township park.
The funding is included in a new state budget approved by the Michigan Legislature.
The $50,000 allocation will help build a parking lot for Veteran’s Memorial Park on Community Center Drive between Hall Road and 21 Mile Road located in the township.
“Adding a parking lot will improve a quiet neighborhood park dedicated to those who have served and sacrificed for us in the military,” Hornberger said. “It will create a safer environment for kids and everyone else using it because cars won’t have to park on neighborhood streets.”
The park features a ball field and play area along with tributes to the military.
The state budget for the fiscal year starting in October also includes increased support for road repairs, workforce development and K-12 schools, along with significantly increased investment in school security. Overall, however, the budget does not increase government spending.
The budget bills, House Bill 5579 and Senate Bill 848, advance to Gov. Rick Snyder for his consideration.
