Rep. Hank Vaupel Weekly Column: March 25, 2019
RELEASE|March 25, 2019

This week was the first meeting of the House Pharmacy Caucus, of which I am a co-chair. This is a bipartisan group of legislators looking to become better informed and make better decisions when it comes to issues of transparency and the opioid epidemic. It is a chance to hear directly from the experts and those in the field in order to pursue sound policy solutions. I look forward to continuing the discussion throughout the year!

A large group of 4-H student leaders visited the Capitol on Wednesday as part of their legislative action day, and I had the privilege of talking with many of them. It was a great opportunity to hear their concerns and thoughts on issues impacting farming and agriculture education. It is encouraging to see the youth of our district and state taking an active role in their government and recognizing the importance of agriculture in Michigan. I am confident they have bright futures ahead! Thank you also to Jaycie Brown of the Kounty Klover Kids 4-H club, who attended from Livingston County.

I also had a chance to meet with a group of representatives from The Youth Connection, a non-profit organization providing opportunities and programs for at-risk youth and young adults. They have a proven track record of success and are a great resource for the young people in Livingston County and across Southeast Michigan. It was a pleasure discussing issues you face, and I want to thank you for all you do in our communities!
