Rep. Hank Vaupel, R-Fowlerville; audio on tanning bed legislation

Rep. Vaupel, the Chairman of the House Health Policy Committee, talks about his new HB 6450, which would prohibit minors from using a tanning device in a tanning facility.  Current Michigan law requires a signature from a parent or guardian for a minor to use a device at a tanning business, but Rep. Vaupel says health data on individuals who start using tanning devices early in life suggests a significantly high risk of cancer past the age of 35.  The legislation is currently pending in the House Regulatory Reform Committee.
