Rep. Griffin appointed to new Michigan House committee for 2019-20 legislative session
RELEASE|January 17, 2019

State Rep. Beth Griffin will serve on the newly created House Ways and Means Committee for the 2019-20 legislative term, an excellent opportunity to help shape the future of southwest Michigan and the entire state through a variety of policy areas.

Committee appointments were announced this week by House Speaker Lee Chatfield.

Legislation reviewed by Ways and Means could relate to schools, health, tax policy, communications and technology, regulatory reform and many other issues. During this two-year term, the Ways and Means Committee will be one of a select few panels with the authority to report legislation to the House floor for consideration. Reviewing proposals that previously have been considered by other House policy committees will improve debate, analysis and accountability.

“The House Ways and Means Committee will ensure that policy is thoroughly vetted, not rushed. It is imperative that all sides have the chance to be heard and that good policy is put forward as a result,” Griffin said of the committee assignment. “I look forward to working on a variety of issues that are important to our friends and neighbors in Van Buren and Kalamazoo Counties.”

Griffin, of Mattawan, is in her second House term representing the 66th District.
