Rep. Griffin applauds MDOT grants for Bloomingdale, Breedsville
RELEASE|May 10, 2019

State Rep. Beth Griffin, of Mattawan, announced the villages of Bloomingdale and Breedsville will be receiving Transportation Economic Development Fund (TEDF) grants to help with the completion of road construction projects for the 2019 fiscal year.

The first grant of $154,000 was awarded to the Village of Bloomingdale to aid in the reconstruction of Miller Road, from the South Village limit towards E. Kalamazoo Street. The second grant of $38,337 was awarded to the Village of Breedsville to help rework E. Main Street, from Pine Street to the Village limits. Both TEDF grants will pay for approximately half of their respective projects.

“I applaud Bloomingdale and Breedsville for the hard work they put into earning these competitive grants,” Rep. Griffin said. “It’s important we get more road funding into our small towns and villages. Improving local infrastructure enhances the quality of life for our residents, supports our local businesses, and makes our area more attractive for new investment.”

The TEDF operates under the Michigan Department of Transportation and was established to provide additional road funding for cities and villages with populations of 10,000 or less.  TEDF staff select the most competitive applications based on criteria such as projects on roadways not eligible for other state or federal funding, partnering with other road agencies, and pairing with other infrastructure work and preventative maintenance projects.
