Lawmaker responds to governor’s Stay Home, Stay Safe executive order

Rep. Annette Glenn, R-Midland, today announced her support for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-at-home order, put in place to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Glenn said as the number of reported positive cases of COVID-19 continues to increase, it is vital Michiganders do their part to protect themselves, their families, and neighbors.

“I strongly support the governor’s call and encourage families in Bay and Midland counties to join me in doing our part in slowing the spread of this virus,” Rep. Glenn said. “I know our community will work together to respond effectively to this order and continue to show great care for each other.”

The order will go into effect Tuesday, March 24 at 12:01 a.m. and continue through at least April 13th. It allows for certain essential business and activity to continue, such as grocery shopping, doctor’s appointments, and outdoor exercise.

“I am so proud to represent the people of Bay and Midland counties,” Glenn said. “We’ve already been working hard to help and stand with each other, and I recognize all the sacrifices we’ve already made. I continue to have complete confidence in our local leaders, first responders, and healthcare professionals and their ability to respond to this challenge. We will get through this together if we all do our part.”

Glenn has remained committed to slowing the spread of the virus, joining her colleagues in approving an additional $125 million in emergency state funding to provide support to local governments and health officials’ response to the virus. She also participated in a conference call with the White House last week, during which Vice President Mike Pence and federal public health officials briefed state government leaders on the federal government’s response to the coronavirus.
