Novi High School varsity volleyball earns special tribute from lawmaker
State Rep. Kathy Crawford, R-Novi, welcomed the Novi High School varsity volleyball team to the state Capitol today to recognize its accomplishment as 2016 Class A State Champions.
The Novi High School volleyball team won its second consecutive Class A state title by beating Rockford in four sets at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek on Nov. 19.
“The Novi volleyball team has earned back-to-back state championships and its hard work has ignited great pride throughout our community, rightfully earning the respect of their families, friends and neighbors,” said Rep. Crawford. “This is an outstanding group of talented and determined young women who play every game with a sense of purpose.
“I am honored to have the Novi volleyball team join me at the Capitol today to honor their superior statewide athletic achievements that have also garnered national attention, ranking them No. 3 in the country.”
Novi has now won back-to-back state championships and appeared in the Class A final three straight years. The Wildcats have won 161 matches in that span. The team GPA is an exceptional 3.83, academic all-state.
The Novi High School volleyball team is headed by Coach Jennifer Cottrill.
