State Rep. Kathy Crawford of Novi today introduced a resolution that was adopted by the House of Representatives to recognize October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Michigan.

Rep. Crawford’s connection to this issue became more personal when she was diagnosed with breast cancer just over three years ago.  Although she was fortunate enough to have it detected early, she still underwent surgery and radiation treatments.

“Despite having this unexpected detour in my life, I remain optimistic and am grateful for the people I have met along the way who are in similar situations,” Rep. Crawford said. “To see how this impacts the lives of people around you, it’s pretty powerful.”

First Lady Sue Snyder, who is also a breast cancer survivor herself, joined Rep. Crawford and other legislators who have family members affected by breast cancer for the introduction.

State Rep. Kathy Crawford was joined by First Lady Sue Snyder and colleagues on the floor of the Michigan House of Representatives in support of her resolution to recognize October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
