State Rep. Julie Calley of Portland has spent the month of March making visits to several local elementary schools as students throughout Michigan observe March is Reading Month.
Rep. Calley says she hopes visiting local classrooms and reading to students will foster a love of books that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
“It’s so important for parents to read to their children to show them that books are entertaining and fun,” Rep. Calley said. “Once a child is able to read on their own, they are free to explore any time, place or person.”
Rep. Calley had reading sessions with students at Southeastern and Central elementary schools in Hastings, Saranac Elementary School in Saranac, Oakwood Elementary School in Portland and Delton Kellogg Elementary School in Delton.
