Rep. Berman, Republicans point to roads, insurance and transparency as top priorities
RELEASE|February 20, 2019

State Rep. Ryan Berman this week announced priorities for the 2019-20 House session, including increasing government transparency and reducing auto insurance rates.

Berman joined his House Republican colleagues in unveiling the two-year plan, called “Leading the Way for an Even Better Michigan.”

“There’s no doubt that Michigan’s roads and bridges are in desperate need of repair and we need to focus on fixing them,” Berman said. “At the same time, we need to stay laser-focused on fixing Michigan’s broken auto no-fault system that costs Michigan families thousands each year. Consumers have very little choice in their insurance plans, while costs continue to skyrocket. Fraud runs rampant in our broken auto no-fault system, heaping cost onto cost. Michigan families are demanding change.

“This two-year plan demonstrates House Republicans’ commitment to listening to voters and bringing home results.”

In addition to the need for road repairs and reformed auto insurance laws, Berman noted that increased transparency in government is among his top priorities.

“Change begins with an up-front and honest conversation. That’s why my very first bill is a crucial part of a bipartisan plan to increase transparency in Michigan’s government,” said Berman, of Commerce Township. “It’s also why I called for a review of the claims paid by the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association, which controls reimbursements for expensive auto-related medical claims and is a part of the no-fault system.”
