State Rep. Joe Bellino today called on all parties involved to work together for the “fair and timely” resolution of a tax case involving Monroe, Frenchtown Township and DTE Energy.
The Michigan Department of Treasury has filed a motion to intervene in the case, which is pending before the Michigan Tax Tribunal. The issue involves the determination of taxable value of DTE’s Monroe Power Plant and Fermi II plant.
“One of the many things I love about Monroe County – our local governments, schools, DTE and everyone in the community have always worked together to make this a great place to live,” Bellino said. “It’s time to come together once again and move Monroe forward.”
Bellino, who urged a resolution to the dispute before it ever reached the Michigan Tax Tribunal, said he continues to monitor developments and encourage a resolution that will help the entire community and DTE thrive.
“Everyone involved must come together in a fair and timely fashion to find a solution that will benefit our community and economy for years to come,” Bellino said.
