Rep. Bellino applauds school safety grants awarded in Monroe and Wayne Counties
RELEASE|March 29, 2019

State Rep. Joe Bellino of Monroe this week praised the announcement of over $100,000 in state grants to school districts in Monroe and Wayne Counties to improve safety of school buildings.

“Absolutely nothing is more important than the safety and protection of our kids,” Rep. Bellino said. “These grants will help schools make their buildings safer and more secure, which is why I was proud to support and vote for funding the program.”

Some of the grant recipients in the 17th District include Summit Academy ($30,159) and Summit Academy North ($73,519), both located in Flat Rock. This funding is in addition to last fall’s awarding of over $200,000 to schools in Rep. Bellino’s district.

Districts throughout Michigan will receive $25 million in state grants from the 2019 Competitive School Safety Grant Program to improve the safety and security of students, staff and school buildings through the purchase of technology and equipment.
