Andrea Schroeder, state Representative from the 43rd District in Oakland County which includes part of Waterford Township, the city of Lake Angelus, the village of Clarkston and Independence Township, announced today that she underwent successful surgery to remove a cancerous growth in her stomach that was discovered during a routine test. She is expected to make a full recovery and return to work shortly.
“The diagnosis was a shock and I’m grateful they caught it when they did and that treatment was available,” said Schroeder. “My excellent doctors have assured me that I can successfully take care of both my health and my responsibilities in Lansing. I want to remind everyone that screening and early detection saves lives. I expect to remain cancer-free through monitoring.
“We have important issues to address, like taking care of our roads, continuing to grow a strong economy, and providing our children with the best possible schools. I look forward to returning to work as soon as next week to serve the residents of the 43rd District.”
