Rep. Lynn Afendoulis of Grand Rapids Township issued the following statement after introducing a resolution in the Michigan House urging the state’s U.S. senators to vote ‘not guilty’ or against articles of impeachment:

“A process that began before the president did a single official act can’t be anything but politically motivated. From Rashida Tlaib’s cries to ‘impeach the m———–’ to ‘impeachdonaldtrump.org,’ which went live on inaugural day, this has been a partisan sham since day one.

“For this reason, I sponsored a resolution encouraging Senators Stabenow and Peters to do the right thing and vote against impeachment.

“Enough already. Get to work for the people of this state and nation.”
