ThenAndNow_8.5x11_Page_2Only a few years ago, Michigan was experiencing one of its worst economic climates in history. Jobs were disappearing, our population was declining and a belief in a better Michigan had faded.

When House Republicans gained leadership in 2011, they recognized that they had also earned the responsibility of taking action and fixing Michigan. House Republicans put together an action plan that would help usher in a new Michigan.

Week after week, we hear a story or read a report about Michigan’s turnaround. This week is no different.

A new report by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis – or BEA – released a new study of America’s gross domestic product (GDP).  To no ones’ surprise, Michigan is ranked towards the top. The new BEA report shows Michigan’s turnaround is outpacing the Great Lakes region as well as the nation as a whole. In fact, Michigan’s GDP has grown by $22 billion since House Republicans gained leadership.

By eliminating red tape and burdensome regulations, making it easier for local businesses to open and expand and remaining accountable to those who elected them, House Republicans have helped turn the tide in the Great Lake State by making Michigan a producer and exporter once again – and making everyone’s future brighter.
