State Rep. Steve Marino was appointed to the House Appropriations Committee – which designates how the state’s budget is allocated among the various state departments – today by Speaker Tom Leonard.
Marino, of Harrison Township, will help craft budgets related to Military and Veterans Affairs, Michigan State Police and other areas during the 2017-18 session of the Legislature.
Marino will be the vice chair of appropriations subcommittees for State Police and Community Colleges. He also will be a member of Natural Resources and Military and Veterans Affairs subcommittees, along with the Joint Capital Outlay subcommittee – a panel that deals with financing building projects for state agencies, public universities and community colleges.
“It’s all about setting priorities for Michigan,” Marino said of the budget process. “And that’s why the work done in these committees is so important.”
Marino is serving his first term in the House.
