Goals strengthen Michiganders, rein in government

House Republican priorities for the 2015-16 legislative session were outlined today in a Capitol press conference, and state Rep. Andrea LaFontaine, is pleased that the Action Plan is heavily focused on the people of Michigan.

“At its best, state government helps people succeed and prosper,” said LaFontaine, R-Columbus Township. “We want to get government out of the way so the economy can grow at the hands of Michigan’s finest: its people.”

The Action Plan outlines priorities for the new legislative session that are crucial to fostering job growth and strengthening the state’s economy, but also taking care of the people who make Michigan great.

“We’ve set lofty goals and are ready to take the bold actions necessary to achieve them,” LaFontaine said. “The people who sent us to Lansing expect us to deliver a better, stronger Michigan for everyone, and leading with these ideas and policies will ensure our state’s continued success.”

Encouraging job growth, taking care of Michigan’s families and children, and smart, sound budgeting are also key pillars of the House Action Plan, which—when paired with a focus on Michigan’s people—will chart a path to economic success and a brighter future for all.
