Event is June 17 at Richardson Senior Center
State Rep. Klint Kesto will sponsor a Senior Brigade Day to teach senior citizens about different scams and fraud and how to protect themselves from falling victim to them.
The free event takes place on Monday, June 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ralph Richardson Community Senior Center, 1485 Oakley Park Road in Commerce Township.
Kesto will be joined by presenters from the attorney general’s office on the topics of avoiding identity theft and phone and mail scams.
“Identity theft and other scams can be hard to spot, but if you know what to look for you can protect yourself,” said Kesto, R-Commerce Township. “There are lots of unscrupulous characters out there that prey on senior citizens, and I am happy to work with the attorney general to equip seniors with the tools to prevent them from being scammed.”
Among the topics to be discussed are home repair and equity scams; identity theft; investment fraud; online safety; phone and mail scams; and residential care choices.
