State Rep. Brad Jacobsen today announced Kay Automotive Group has been awarded a performance-based grant to help them with a planned $12.9 million expansion.

The Kay Automotive Group grant is a $350,000 Michigan Business Development Program grant, awarded through the Michigan Strategic Fund that will be used to help build a new facility in Orion Township.

“This is an example of the continued development and revitalization occurring in Michigan,” said Jacobsen, R-Oxford. “This grant is the result of the hard work and success of a great Michigan business. These grants are common-sense incentives to help growing companies create more jobs and greater economic stability and opportunity at the local level.”

Along with the grant, Lake Orion Township is offering a 12-year property tax abatement valued at $731,000.

“The vitality and strength of Michigan’s economy rests upon the cornerstone of local businesses,” Jacobsen said. “With $12.9 million worth of new investment and prospects for 50 plus jobs, Kay Automotive is a perfect example of how successful local companies lay the foundation for state-wide prosperity and opportunity.”
