Rep. LaSata talks about passage by the House Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Committee Wednesday of her HBs 5155 and 5156, which place authority for the state’s Adopt-a-Waterway and Adopt-a-Shoreline program under the Department of Natural Resources. Rep. LaSata says current state policy doesn’t specifically designate who supervises the programs.

Rep. LaSata, the Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education, says she is moving into the 2018 budget process with a focus on making higher ed more affordable, ensuring community college credits transfer to four-year universities and directing additional dollars to public school classrooms.

Rep. LaSata says she’s asking people in her district to send her photographs of locations in Berrien County.  The three top entries in the contest will be framed and hung in her office, with the winning photographer joining her in Lansing to unveil the photograph.  The contest will run through February 10.
